On a recent Power Hour Coaching Call, Darryl shared an inspired post from real estate legend and friend Danielle Kennedy which included an article written by James Clear called Martha Graham and the Hidden Dangers of Comparing Yourself to Others.
It’s a well-written piece with a powerful message, not just about the danger of comparing yourself to other people, but also about the perils of comparing yourself to yourself. For a lot of people, it’s really easy to fall into the trap of the coulda, shoulda, wouldas. The what if I had done this or that trap. Or the spending so much time on the past you’re not really living in the present trap.
Sound familiar? As sales and service professionals, life can sometimes feel like a roller coaster emotionally and financially – and there is usually a correlation between the two! My advice this week friends is to quit comparing. It’s stealing your joy, and your bandwidth. Instead stay in the present and remember that wish saying, “Yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow is a promissory note, today is cash.” Today is the commodity you have to work with.
