It’s About the Breakthrough, Not the Results
POWERFACT: Sometimes focusing solely on the results or finish line can stop you in your tracks.
In a clip from Darryl’s annual Inventory Intensive Workshop, Darryl shares the importance of creating a breakthrough simply by creating a commitment that can get you out of a comfort zone. Sharing a story from his experience in training for the New York City Marathon, Darryl explains that sometimes just making the commitment to get started can create the shift necessary to create a breakthrough.
For many agents, the fear of picking up the phone, rejection, and lack of results stops them from even making the calls. During this portion of the workshop, which was all about generating NOW business by calling FSBOs, Darryl taught agents to lose the fear and commit to the process of making calls at least three times per week, for at least an hour.
Once you get past the hurdle of blocking the time and making the calls, the next natural course is to better develop your skills and ratio for getting the appointments.
What’s a fun side-note is that on the lunch break, one agent took Darryl up on the challenge. She took the phone dialogue for FSBOs that Darryl shared and went out to her car and made calls to FSBOs and booked two appointments, surprising herself and inspiring fellow attendees.
She made the commitment to move past fear and make the calls. It wasn’t about the results – it was about making the calls. Or as Darryl likened it — “getting in the batting cage”.
The same can be true for you. Get out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t serve you. Instead, commit to creating a breakthrough.
