How to Put Yourself First to Show Up Better for Everyone Else 

Investing in yourself as a human being is one of the most powerful keys to success as a real estate agent.  

One word that is a focus for our members quite a lot in our coaching calls and training is the ah-ha that happens when agents recognize the very real importance of showing up for THEMSELVES first, so they can show up better for the people in their lives. One agent in particular recently said, “I learned I had to commit to MYSELF. Put myself first so I can show up at my best for my family.” Now, that’s a breakthrough!  

As real estate professionals, we know that it’s our job to show up for our clients and business. But one of the best things you can do for your family, your clients, and your business is to commit to yourself first. When you focus on taking care of yourself and creating a positive mindset, you’ll be able to show up better than ever before! Let’s take a look at how committing to yourself first can help you become an even better agent.

Invest in Your Well-Being 

The most important part of committing to yourself first is investing in your well-being. This means making sure that you are eating right, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and spending time outdoors. Allowing yourself the opportunity to relax and recharge will give you the energy that you need to tackle any challenges that come your way. Plus, when you are feeling good about yourself physically it will be easier for you to stay focused on your goals mentally and emotionally. 

Work on Your Mindset 

Another key part of committing to yourself first is working on your mindset. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the tasks on your plate – from finding new clients and managing existing ones, staying up-to-date on industry trends, navigating crazy headlines, etc., there’s no shortage of things that need our attention. That’s why it’s so important to create a positive mindset that allows you the opportunity to stay focused on what you want rather than what you don’t want. Taking time each day or week just for yourself can help you achieve this goal by allowing yourself a few moments away from all the stressors in your life.

Sharpen Your Skills 

Finally, it’s important to sharpen your skills as often as possible so that you can provide the best service possible for clients and customers alike. This means taking classes or workshops related to real estate law or negotiation tactics, attending networking events, reading books related to success strategies, listening to podcasts designed specifically for agents, and doubling down on your commitment to coaching and skills this year. The more time you invest in sharpening your skills now, the better off you’ll be when it comes time for us to actually use them out in the field! 

Committing to yourself first is an essential part of being an effective real estate agent – not just because it allows you to keep up with industry trends but because it gives you the opportunity to create a positive mindset that will help you carry over into every aspect of life! By investing in your well-being, setting aside time each day just for yourself, and continuously sharpening your skills – you’ll be able to show up best not only for your family but also clients and even business partners alike! The bottom line? Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s a necessity if you want to have sustainable success in today’s world!
