The Importance of Online Real Estate Listings

There is no denying we live in a full-on digital age, especially now, when everything is done online. The real estate industry has followed suit. You likely have your website set up, are good at sending email marketing, and are even active on social media. You are doing great at marketing yourself and your services. According to a study by the National Association of REALTORS®, 51% of all home buyers found the home they ultimately purchased on the internet, and this number just keeps growing. Of those buyers, 33% also found their real estate agent through their online search for properties. Clearly your business needs to be using online listings to reach today’s home buyers.

If you have been resistant to posting your active listings online because you are worried it will deter buyers from working with you as an agent and doing it all themselves, you don’t need to. According to the same study, 9 out of 10 home buyers signed with the help of an agent. Online listings just help get your listing more views, and ultimately you more business.

So how do you implement online listings? There are many ways. You can use online listing aggregators such as Zillow and Trulia, which receive listings from brokers via syndication. There are also MLS® Systems which provide a data feed of listings. Listings can live on these sites and get plenty of views.
