This week, I wanted to address one question I get a LOT. “What do I bring on a listing appointment?” In this age of technology, apps, and electronic wizardry – many agents are trying to find the best way to bridge the gap when face-to-face with a potential seller. Technology is great – I love it. I literally think I have an app for everything! However — on a listing appointment, I think they can create a communication barrier that I don’t believe needs to be there.
Call me old-fashioned (I don’t mind) – but I believe a Listing Conversation book (binder) that includes visual representations of all the tools and skills you bring to the table to help a homeowner get their home sold in the least amount of time with the fewest headaches is the way to go. Why? It’s more flexible, more visual, and the fact that it is so tangible — they can touch it, feel it, flip through it — makes it more engaging in the moment.
Like I said, I love technology – but what I really love more is people. Face-to-face time should be about communicating. About listening intently — and being able to pick up on verbal, physical, and social queues that are just less likely when you’re using a screen versus a book.
