Finding Your Conviction and Commitment to Making a Difference
Your strength, conviction, and commitment to a cause are the components that will help you change the world.
“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
In the wake of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I spent some time thinking about him, and everything he accomplished. He was an incredible person, and often faced with a lot of challenges. He was threatened, prosecuted, jailed, attacked…there are so many stories of his constant persecution, but even in the face of all this mistreatment, he persevered to make an incredible mark in this world.
He was a man who stood strong against the attacks and the negativity aimed at him because he was a man of deeply rooted conviction. He was committed to the cause of civil rights and against racial discrimination because he believed in equality and humanity through every fiber of his being, right down in his core.
He was filled with righteous anger because he wanted to create a different world from what it was at that time, and it was this anger that drove him to accomplish everything that he did.

We can use our own anger and passion in a positive way, converting it into a conviction and commitment to helping affect change in this world. Martin Luther King Jr. believed what he was doing was right, no matter what other people said.
My question for you is this: what’s your belief? What do you believe about yourself? What do you believe about what you do? What do you believe about the difference you can make?
When you hold these beliefs that you make a difference in your heart and soul, you WILL make a difference. You will serve people, you will touch their lives, you will make the world a better place just because you exist.
Do what you believe and live from that place. Use this conviction to guard against negativity and against the attacks that come because you are making a difference. So, get clear about what you believe so that you can use that to make a difference and touch lives.
“Those who are not looking for happiness are the most likely to find it, because those who are searching forget that the surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
